Common Questions About Our Extensions Consultations

How much do hair extensions cost?

«

There are two main factors: the cost of the hair and the time to install it. Knowing which method and brand we'll use is just part of the equation. Then we walk through the options, like length, color, band size, texture and density, all of which vary by method and brand, making the cost question impossible to answer without specifics. It sounds like a lot to process but a brief 15 minute consultation will allow us understand your needs and provide you with a quote.

How do I maintain my color with hair extensions in?

«

Quality human hair extensions can be colored, within reason. We need to be protective of your attachments, whether they are adhesive strips, keratin bonds or micro beads. With your extensions in, it's possible to do a color touch up or refresh your highlights, focusing on the new growth at the roots.  As for all over color, we can do it as long as it's nothing extreme, within a few shades. It's not a good idea to do a lot of lightening with your extensions in.

How long does it take to apply hair extensions?

«

Time in the chair will depend on the method. The installation time will depend on the method.Tape ins are the fastest. We can do a full head in under an hour. Wefts, depending on the beaded row method take about 2 hours. Fusion hair extensions are highly customized, adding length and volume strand-by-strand can take up to 8 hours. Microbeads are somewhere in the middle, averaging between 4-6 hours depending on the style. And we don't rush. By taking our time and checking each bond for tension, we assure that nothing is pulling or feeling tight. We don't want any unnecessary breakage. And what good is gorgeous hair if it's not comfortable!⠀

Those time frames are just for the installation. If we're also doing a hair color before we put your extensions in, then it will be longer. We also take time to cut and shape your extensions when we're finished, in order to match your length and blend in the ends with your style.

Do you extensions that will match my curly hair?

«

Yes, this is exactly why we offer different brands of hair extensions. Some brands are a great match for hair that is straight or with a slight wave. Other brands, like Hair and Compounds, offer extensions for curly and very curly hair. We will look at your curly pattern and ask you about how you style your hair so that we can get you the perfect blend.

How do you match my extensions to my own color?

«

We start by looking at your natural hair color and talking about the look you want. If you’re planning to go lighter, we may recommend coloring your hair first so we can match the extensions perfectly. Extensions can be ordered in a single shade or in blends, rooted and balayage shades to create natural-looking highlights and lowlights. Since we use high-quality human hair, we can also fine-tune the color in the salon if needed. Our goal is to order the closest match possible from the start, then make any final adjustments so your extensions blend seamlessly.

How much in-salon maintenance should I expect with hair extensions?

«

Most extension methods need a maintenance appointment every 6–8 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows and the type of extensions you choose. During these visits, we’ll move the extensions back up to their original position, replace any that have slipped, and check that your hair and scalp are healthy. You’ll also get a refresh on styling and care tips so your extensions look and feel their best between appointments.

Tape in Extensions should be removed and reapplied with fresh tape every 6-8 weeks.

Weft Extensions and Microbeads alternate between an express move up and an a full move-up every 6-8 weeks. During an express move up, the beads are opened and and rows are moved up towards the scalp. In a full move-up, the beads and rows are removed completely then reapplied. We’ll check each attachment for comfort, replace any that have loosened, and make sure your natural hair stays healthy.

Fusion extensions are not moved up, they are worn for the full cycle, then need to be removed. A new set will need to be reapplied, the hair is typically not able to be reused. We recommend doing a half-way check in with us so that we can inspect your bonds and address any that may have slipped.

I’ve never had extensions before—what’s the first step?

«

Book a consultation! It's a free session that lasts 15-30 minutes. We’ll chat about your hair goals, show you the different extension types, and let you see and feel the hair. You’ll get pricing, maintenance details, and answers to all your questions—no pressure, just honest advice so you can decide if extensions are right for you.

What are the best extensions for damaged hair?

«

That's a fair question, especially if damaged hair brings you here in the first place. If your hair is damaged or fragile, we would recommend a method with the least amount of tension and a style with minimal weight.

During your consultation, we’ll look at your hair’s condition and recommend a solution that will give you the look you want while protecting your natural hair as it recovers.

The gentlest options are tape-in extensions or hand-tied wefts applied with minimal points of contact. These methods use lightweight attachments that won’t pull on your hair and can be removed or adjusted without solvents or heat. In some cases, we may suggest doing a little hair-repair work first to get your hair in the best possible shape before adding extensions.
